Ship Car To or From Mississippi with M2 Reeves Car Shipping

Mississippi is one of those states that everyone loves to talk about. When you hear about it, you conjure up images of nice people, a great culture, great food, and many more lush and lavish things that so many people love to see and eat and feel. Therefore, it′s no wonder that you′re reading this, obviously looking for car transport over there. Well, here are a few things that Mississippi is known for.

Tennessee borders it to the north, Alabama lies to the east, Louisiana (only a bit) and the Gulf of Mexico to the south, and Arkansas and Louisiana lie on its west. Major rivers that flow through it include the Mississippi, the Pearl, the Yazoo, and the Tombigbee. It also has some of the largest natural lakes in the nation, including the Ross Barnett Reservoir, Grenada Lake and Sardis Lake, and the highest point in the state is actually Woodall Mountain, located at the foot of the Cumberland Mountain Range; however, it′s not technically a mountain, as it only stands 806 feet tall, but hey, who′s counting, right?

The vast majority of the state of Mississippi is part of the East Gulf Coast Plain, and the rest of it is called the Mississippi Alluvial Plain. The East Gulf Coast Plain is composed mostly of low hills, including the Pine Hills and the North Central Hills. Odd-colored loess soil makes up the west, and the northeast is made up of some of the most fertile soil in the United States, making it one of the best places to grow many different types of vegetables.

The state has three large natural bays on its coast: Bay Saint Louis and Biloxi, and the third is called Pascagoula. These are separated from the Gulf of Mexico by the Mississippi Sound, and it actually widens north of Vicksburg, which was the site of a huge Union victory during the Civil War. The city was home to a large Confederate garrison and served as the main resupply station for all Confederate units south of Virginia. Ulysses S. Grant moved his army, in the dead of night, up the Yazoo river (past Confederate heavy artillery) and secured the heights around the city, which in turn led to a siege that lasted over six months. When the city was finally taken, the South was effectively cut in half, and the Union gained control of the vital Mississippi River, allowing supplies to resupply their armies throughout the south.

The state has a typical southern climate, characterized by long, humid summers and much shorter winters that are still fairly warm. Temperatures vary little throughout the state during the summer months, but in the winter the Mississippi Sound region is warmer than the rest of the state. This is mainly due to the warm water of the gulf sending warm air over the Sound, before it turns colder as it moves upstate. The state is prone to hurricanes (as are all states on the Gulf of Mexico), and the worst by far was Hurricane Katrina, which caused widespread damage in particular to Biloxi, the port city, as well as surrounding neighborhoods.
