How will my vehicle be shipped?

Generally your vehicle will be Shipped on a 10-car open carrier, like one of the ones you've probably seen at car dealerships hauling cars to and fro. This is usually the best way to go because there are plenty of these trucks on the road and we take care of your car shipment by negotiating with one of these professional car shippers. Another option for you to consider is enclosed shipping. These trucks are a lot like the big rig trucks you see hauling produce and stuff, except they haul cars instead. Your car will be a lot safer in an enclosed truck, but this service is more expensive. We generally recommend enclosed shipment if you have an exotic or classic car that really can't be exposed to the elements.

I've heard it's easier to schedule pickup in advance. How far in advance should I schedule it?

It's a good idea to schedule your pickup as soon as possible. We can normally get a truck out to you in 1-10 days, up to 14 in the summer after a reservation has been made. Also, it's a good idea to book your auto transport with M2Reeves 5-10 days in advance of the pickup date you would like - this time allows us to actually reserve a truck and get it out to you on the day you requested. If you require faster service we do offer express service which guarantees pickup of your vehicle within 72 hours for an additional $250. This comes with an unconditional guaranteee that if your car is not picked up within the 72 hours period you recieve a full refund of the $250 fee.

How much is it to ship my vehicle?

The auto transport industry is route-based, so prices are not necessarily fixed. We price your vehicle to move; that means that when you book with us, a truck in your area will want to take your vehicle. This is in contrast to some of the other companies who do what we do; they'll price too low to get you to book with them, and then leave you hanging after you've paid the deposit because they can't find a truck for you - the price is too low.

At M2Reeves, we value our customers. Our prices are always priced for your vehicle to move quickly. But prices also depend on certain factors: pickup and delivery cities, vehicle size, year, make and model of the vehicle, and if there are any extra things you want us to do (expedited service, same-day pickup, etc). Our quoted price is only good for a limited amount of time - book quickly to avoid any price markups.

How long will it take to ship my vehicle?

As stated earlier, this industry is route-based. As such, times will vary, but it's a good idea to average 350 miles per day. Trucks are limited by federal laws, as well as the requirement to stop at every weigh station on the road. This can sometimes mean that delays can happen, but for the most part trucks can go on average 350 miles per day.

What is enclosed shipping?

Enclosed shipping is exactly that: shipping your vehicle in an enclosed container. Most trucks are open carriers - they are just like the trucks you see hauling cars to the dealerships. These trucks are open to inclement weather and any road hazards, while enclosed trucks are better protected. However, this added protection does come with a price; generally, enclosed shipping is 75-100% more expensive than open shipping, and as such we recommend enclosed to people with exotic and/or rare cars.

Can I have anything in my car?

No. Federal law prohibits auto carriers from transporting "household goods," so anything that is in your car must be removed before transport. Not only are trucks prohibited from carrying household goods, but too much weight can actually put a truck over its weight limit at the weigh station, causing unwanted - and unneeded - delays, making you wait for your vehicle.

However, you may put light objects - such as blankets, clothes, and pillows - in the trunk of your car, provided that it is less than 100lbs. This is to make sure that the trucks meet their weight requirements and that the "junk in the trunk" is not household items. Don't forget, however, that any personal items that are left in your vehicle are NOT covered by the trucks insurance, and as such you are personally liable for anything damaged during transport.

Do I need to be present when my vehicle is picked up?

Yes and no. We need someone there to sign the contract (also known as the Bill of Lading) between you, the truck driver. If you can't be there, make sure you have a friend or relative that can be there in order to sign the bill of lading and avoid unnecessary delays. Someone is also required to be present to do a walk-around inspection with the truck driver. This is to note any damages to the vehicle before transport. So make sure you arrange for someone to be there if you cannot be.
