Auto Shippers
Auto shippers like it when things go smooth, but most problems that auto shippers have come from customers changing things on them. It’s frustrating for auto shippers because their customers are usually the ones causing the most problems for them, especially when it comes to giving the auto shippers the information that they need in regards to the vehicle that the auto shippers are moving. The most common reason for cancellation is that customers try and misrepresent the vehicles they are shipping in order to get cheaper auto transport rates fro the auto shippers, but customers don’t understand why auto shippers price the way they do.
If you are shipping an oversized pickup truck with an eight inch lift kit on it and a box on the back, it’s incredibly important to let the auto shippers know before you even book your order because if you don’t, the auto shippers will give you inaccurate quotes which can cause major delays in your transport. If you misrepresent your vehicle to the auto shippers and they don’t move your vehicle, that’s on you, that’s not on them.
This leads straight into the second biggest thing that customers do to mess up auto shippers’ cancellation rates – their vehicles don’t move quickly enough, so they just cancel the order. Vehicles not moving can be because the auto shippers quote it wrong, but usually it’s misquoted because the customer has not given the auto shippers all the information regarding the vehicle. If your vehicle does not run, it’s going to cost $150 more on average to move it, because a special truck is required to move it. So if auto shippers are having a hard time finding you a carrier, and your vehicle does not run and they don’t know, it’s going to take even longer for those auto shippers to move the vehicle.
Once your auto shipper has given you your pickup window, do your best to not change it. Many cancellations come from customers changing their pickup window dates on the auto shippers, which causes more problems because auto shippers have to completely change the order around to accommodate the change in plans. Customers who change their plans on the auto shippers and fail to inform them cause even bigger problems – auto shippers may just cancel your order themselves because you have made it too difficult to ship the vehicle.
Make sure you are on the same page with your auto shippers before doing anything, and if you have to change your plans for whatever reason, make sure that you inform the auto shippers of any changes you may have, and definitely inform the auto shippers if your vehicle is oversized or has any special things that may need to be noted.
