Trenton is a city in and the capital of Mercer County, New Jersey, and it is also the capital of the state. According to the official US Census conducted in 2000 the population of the city was over 82,000.

It was first founded around 1719, though the exact date is unknown. It was originally part of Hunterdon County, though it became the county seat of Mercer County sometime between its tenure in Hunterdon and its appointment as state capital in 1790. It was built mainly on manufacturing, though during the 1970′s its manufacturing sector declined, leaving the economy to be rebuilt on the back of the service industry.
