San Antonio, with a population of over 1.3 million residents, makes it the second largest city in the state of Texas and the seventh largest in the United States. It is the county seat of Bexar County, Texas, and is the primary city of the San Antonio Metropolitan Statistical Area, in which more than 2 million people reside.

The city was originally a Spanish mission, built in 1691, though by 1724 it had been moved several times, finally stopping in what would become San Antonio. It is also the resting place of The Alamo, where 400 Texan Independents gave their lives at the Battle of The Alamo, and in 1848 was, along with the rest of Texas, ceded to the United States. The city continued to grow as railroads were built through the city, and its economy continued to diversify, which is still happening today.

Like many cities in Texas, the city itself is in the desert, which means high temperatures during the day and cold temperatures at night. During the summer months the average temperature hovers around 93 degrees, with nighttime lows dropping to around 72. Winter months, however, drop the temperatures to around 50 degrees for a high and just above freezing for the lows.
