Hoover is a city located in Jefferson and Shelby counties in north central Alabama, and is the largest suburb of Birmingham. As of the 2000 US census the city's population was over 62,000 and in 2008 was estimated to be over 73,000. It is part of the Birmingham-Hoover Metropolitan Statistical Area and is included in the Birmingham-Hoover-Cullman Combined Statistical Area.

The city was incorporated in 1967 and was named after William Hoover, a local insurance company owner. During the summer months the temperatures hover around 85 degrees during the day and drop to around 50 degrees overnight. During the winter, things cool down, with highs around 57 degrees and lows hovering around 42 overnight.
