Gulfport is a city in and one of two county seats of Harrison County, Mississippi, with a total population of over 71,000. It is the larger of the two principal cities of the Gulfport-Biloxi, Mississippi Metropolitan Statistical Area, which is actually a part of the Pascagoula Combined Statistical Area and it is the East Coast home to the US Navy Seabees.

In 2005, much of the city was completely destroyed by Hurricane Katrina. It was hit by the strong east side of the hurricane and endured over 16 hours of hurricane-strength winds and rain. It is the current home of Brett Favre and Stuart Roosa (Favre is a retired NFL quarterback and Roosa was one of the 24 men that traveled to the moon).

During the summer months the city’s temperatures hit around 90 degrees during the day, with overnight lows often hitting around 70 degrees, with days being quite humid. During the winter, temperatures fall slightly, with highs often hitting around 65 degrees and lows hitting around 50 degrees overnight.
