Green Bay is a city in and the county seat of Brown County, Wisconsin; as of a 2006 census estimate, the city was home to over 100,000 residents. The city is the principal city of the Green Bay Metropolitan Statistical Area, an area that includes Brown, Oconto and Kewaunee Counties; the combined population of the area is almost 287,000 residents.

The city was founded by a collection of different settlers, trappers, fur traders and merchants looking to make a living in the area. After the United States built Fort Howard in the proximity of the city, it began to grow, and industries began to sprout up in the city. Green Bay has always been an industrial town, and it still holds true to its industrial roots today; though service jobs are entering the city, the main driver of the economy is still manufacturing.

The city, because of its proximity to the Great Lakes, is moderated by the weather systems generated by them. As such, summers are usually mild and warm, while winters are cold and snowy. Average temperatures in the summer rarely reach above 80 degrees, while lows drop to the low 50′s; in the winter months high temperatures top out around 30 degrees, while normal lows drop to the teens.
