However, after the war, the city was one of the least affected cities during Reconstruction thanks to heavy manufacturing and this trend continues today.

The city is known for its hot, muggy summers and warm, muggy winters. During the summer months the city’s average high gets up to around 94 degrees with lows dropping into the mid to upper 60′s. During the winter months average highs top out around 65 degrees with lows dropping into the high 40′s and low 50′s.
